Wednesday, 8 Feb 2006

Julie Homfray and Sarah Morrissey of Cohesion Cohesion were featured in a recent newspaper article, showing their support for local artistes.

Article:KEEP IT LOCAL AND LET US ENTERTAIN YOU

Who says you have to go to London to make it in the entertainment industry?

According to a Lichfield company, local artists and entertainers are needed for a wide range of events and shows much closer to home. Lichfield-based entertainment consultancy, Cohesion, organises corporate events and award ceremonies using artistes ranging from celebrity speakers and comedians to jugglers and acrobats.

The company has a supply of acts from all over the country, but is eager to use local entertainers.

"It's a shame for us to use artists from other areas when we could use local artists for local events," partner Julie Homfray told the Mercury.

Cohesion Ltd has been running since 2004, but partners Sarah Morrissey and Julie Homfray boast over 30 years' combined experience in marketing and event management.

The company has provided entertainment at numerous awards ceremonies and business functions across the region.

It recently scooped a £2,000 marketing grant from Lichfield District Council, which has enabled the partners to develop a website and raise awareness of their services.

But now Cohesion wants to do more to promote local art and artists.

"The award was offered to support sustainable new businesses showing innovation," explained Julie.

"We did say to the council that something we would like to do is book more people from Lichfield, so we are appealing to entertainers to help us do this - there is so much talent out there," she added.

"We support a lot of local businesses and would like to support local artists in the same way.

"We have a real commitment to our artists and they love to work with us.

"The artists are what makes our business and if we can support local artists that's even better."

Cohesion are particularly keen to hear from comedians, speakers, street entertainers and musicians.
