Comedy with Cake is a stand up comedy show which plays regionally / rurally in village halls, community venues and theatres, mainly on a Sunday afternoon.
We take 3 comics, get their best, cleanest material, add a compere, tea and cake.
Our aim is to take stand up to new audiences – those who enjoy comedy on TV or radio but who for various reasons don’t go to live stand up. This tends to be couples and groups of women 35 – 70, those who like cleaner material than clubs and those who don’t live near to a town centre. It’s also an introduction to live comedy for those who have never experienced it and can also be used for corporates.
Our live audiences go from 35 to 60 plus, with some teens who cannot yet get into live comedy clubs. The reception we have had for our shows has been very positive, and so now Comedy with Cake is aiming to move further afield to reach more areas of the UK, as well as festivals. We have also worked with regeneration projects to bring shows to unused shops in town centres on a Sunday afternoon, working with local craft and vintage stall holders.
Using our contacts from the comedy world, we are finding new audiences for comedy and bringing the very best out of the acts.
Our acts are normally given a language and content guideline of certificate 12, with a brief given in advance of the show to who the audience will be, so that the material is chosen carefully so as not to offend or alienate anybody. We use a range of character acts, anecdotal comedy, Comedy magic or unusual / variety and up and coming / established comics with clean material.
If you would like to hold Comedy with Cake at your venue or event, let us know your date, type of venue, seating capacity, target audience and budget and we’ll put a suggested show forward.
