Sounds Like Jazz

Sounds Like JazzWe work alongside Sounds Like Jazz, an ensemble made up of brass musicians from the Midlands and beyond to suit each event, be it Cosy Christmas Brass to Big Band to 1920s Gatsby Style. We can also bring song sheets for Christmas or singalong events. They really know their stuff and have PA systems where needed, or can be ‘roaming’ and acoustic where required. They are also happy to travel, and being Midlands based, can equally perform at London or Northern events.

For a drinks reception or dinner they are normally booked as a quartet or 5 piece, featuring Trumpet, Trombone, Bass and Keyboards, with additional instruments including drums and tuba/bass brass for larger line ups.

The experience and background of the musicians is second to none. A typical line up would include Paul Nevins on trumpet, an accomplished classical trumpeter and examiner who as well as jazz bands can be seen performing in orchestras to Bavarian bands. Pete Lacey is well established as a brass teacher to all levels including the prestigious Birmingham Conservatoire, and his trombone playing had led to several TV and radio appearances. David Curtiss is both an accomplished keyboard and horn player, well known for his freelance piano playing, and Lee Dunkley on sousaphone/tuba, one of the North of England’s best known freelance players and brass band conductor.
