Meet Cohesion’s team : Julie Homfray, Managing Director
Originally from Manchester, Julie studied Business and Media at University, which included an industry placement at Columbia Records in New York. Prior to setting up Cohesion, Julie worked for Disneyland Paris, BBC North (as Front of House Manager), for a PR company for 4 years and as an agent at a speaker agency for 4 years. Over two decades she has built up an incredible range of contacts within media and performance. Specialising in Corporate Award hosting and comedy, she regularly works with household names in matching the right talent to the job and getting the correct message over to audiences. She is often engaged as a creative advisor, coming up with themed musical and interactive ideas to give tired event formats a boost.
Julie works with clients suggesting and contracting the acts, briefing and assisting the hosts and event producers at their shows, and attends comedy festivals and arts events to check out new talent. Julie has excellent links with local and national media, appears regularly in local press and has a huge contact base from celebrity artists to media professionals . For personal and professional development, voluntary roles over the past decade have included Birmingham ArtsFest, School Governorship and the development of an annual youth music charity fundraiser for Brain Tumour charities, BENefit Gig. She loves cinema, theatre and comedy, plays trumpet in local bands and has two children.
Meet Cohesion’s team: Su Hallcroft, Office Administrator & Event Logistics (Freelance)
Su has brought her skills in administration, theatre, community liaison and live event management to enhance the Cohesion Team. Previously Su has trained and worked as a performer for 10 years before starting her own company providing workshops for schools. For the last 3 years Su has worked in the hospitality industry, personalising holidays and activities for community groups, as well as being involved in marketing.
Su has a Certificate in Maths, Biochemistry Degree from Bath University and is a post graduate in Performance which she studied at Central School of Speech and Drama. She has worked as a workshop leader and Creative Practitioner for nearly 20 years, working with diverse groups in a number of settings.
For Cohesion she has used her project management skills to organise 600 people to take part in a complex Geocaching game devised from scratch which involved multiple sponsors and over 40 caches, plus the logistics for nationwide talent show auditions for Halfords staff: ‘Halfords Top Performer’. In 2015 she co-delivered two terms of courses with Julie in association with Central Youth Theatre, encouraging underemployed and unemployed creatives and potential creatives to discover arts marketing. She was instrumental in creating Aldridge Arts, a voluntary run joint project between Cohesion, Aldridge Cinema and other local arts providers.
